Just for fun, I thought I’d share my favorite assistants from television and the movies.
Here they are, in no particular order.
Pepper Potts (Iron Man) – She’s just so darn classy. Can you imagine trying to keep a boss like Tony Stark in line? It takes a smart cookie to keep up with a visionary like Tony. Plus, she becomes the CEO of his company. And I know they end up together romantically, but whatever.
Felicity Smoak (Arrow) – Her awkwardness is totally endearing. She holds herself to high standards and takes total ownership of her mistakes. The first couple seasons of the show are worth watching. The later ones…not so much. Felicity shows us that every team needs a brains behind the brawn.
Andy Sachs (The Devil Wears Prada) – If you think your lead agent is a tyrant, think again. I love how Andy is willing to do anything (almost) to further her career. She learns how to keep up, impress, and anticipate the needs of her boss which are all attributes we should strive to emulate.
Alfred Pennyworth (Batman) – Though Alfred is technically Bruce Wayne’s butler, he is sooooo much more. Mentor, adviser, father figure, protector. What I love about Alfred is that he doesn’t pull any punches with Bruce. He tells Bruce what he needs to hear, which is not always what he wants to hear. When Bruce is down, Alfred can pick him up and get him back on his feet.
Kimmy Schmidt (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) – What’s not to love about Kimmy? As more of a personal assistant to the wack-a-doodle Jacqueline White, Kimmy’s attitude is one that I wish could employ more often. She takes every negative circumstance and turns it into a positive. Even though she sometimes gets down on herself, she finds a way to turn it around. And very often she inspires those around her as well.
Now it’s your turn. Who are your favorite admin from movies or television? Leave a comment below!
Donna Roberta Paulsen – Suits assistant to Harvey Specter
I’ll have to see if this is on Netflix!
You forgot Donna from the West Wing!
Ahh, I never got into The West Wing. I’ll have to take your word for it!
And let’s not forgot Kirsten Vangsness as Penelope in Criminal Minds. Ever so anxious to please everyone with a dash of “missed the sexual harassment meetings”.
Yes! I just watched a rerun of Criminal Minds over this last weekend after I wrote this post. Penelope is awesome!
